First, let me start off by saying I am very critical when it comes to cartoons going to live action movie…but I loved this translation. The cast includes some very impressive talent (Richard Roundtree, Matthew Fox, Christina Ricci, Rain, John Goodman, and Susan Sarandon), and stuck to the cartoon very closely. The plot is simple…Speed can only do one thing in life and that is race. The movie is based off a very successful Japanese Anime. The one thing I will warn you about is the action sequences really may cause seziures (especially the movie finale). The movie stuck to the cartoon even down to the side bar funny skits between the monkey and the youngest Racer child. If you are a fan of the Racer story line, then you know how the movie will play out. Yes, Racer X is there and yes the same twist is in this story line. If you had to see one cartoon to live action movie this weekend, this is the one to see (notice I didn’t say comic book to live action movie).
