It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The good folks over at Carnival Cruise Lines had nature on its side that day. They ran a successful ad campaign to get the residents of Philadelphia out to witness the breaking of the worlds largest pinata.
Sadly, things did not go as planned.
The location of the event had to change due to the Philadelphia Phillies winning the World Series, and the parade starting in the location the Pinata was set to be displayed.
The change of venue may have actually aided in the large turnout…sadly that large turn out did not work in their favor.
We heard through the grapevine that the actual breaking would take place at at 1:30. We made the trip out there around 1:15 and stayed there until about 3 pm…and left.
The crowd was so large the police would not let them break the pinata in fear of a riot.
