So, another remake was released this week. If you grew up watching the old school Friday the 13th movies, you will probably feel some type of way that there is a new one out now.
Well, you should take some relief in knowing that this movie is not like the ones we grew up on…and I mean that in a good way.
Here is the trailer and the synopsis..
Young friends Whitney (Amanda Righetti), Mike (Nick Mennell), Richie (Ben Feldman), Amanda (America Olivio), and Wade (Jonathan Sadowski) end up missing in the woods near the abandoned Camp Crystal Lake (made famous by the original 1980 film), after allowing their curiosity to get the better of them and visiting the site where a psychopathic killer resides. Six weeks later, Trent (Travis Van Winkle) invites friends Jenna (Danielle Panabaker), Bree (Julianna Guill), Chewie (Aaron Yoo), Chelsea (Willa Ford), Lawrence (Arlen Escarpta), and Nolan (Ryan Hansen) to his father’s cabin on Crystal Lake for a weekend of sex, booze, pot smoking, and water skiing. However their seemingly fun weekend soon escalates into a nightmare after lone traveler Clay (Jared Padalecki) shows up looking for his missing sister Whitney. The police have searched with no luck, and Clay is now searching alone. Local citizens have advised Clay not to go into those woods, because anyone who shows up missing is already dead, and he is wasting his time. During his search, one of the students, Jenna, decides to help Clay find his sister, and they go into the woods. They find the abandoned Camp Crystal Lake and search the dilapidated camp house for any signs of his sister. They soon find themselves face to hockey-mask with evil reborn, reimagined, and rebooted, and his name is Jason Vorhees (Derek Mears). -From IMDB
This movie summary is pretty straight forward. The reboot sums up the first few Friday the 13th movies. The action comes fast and the opening sequence had the audience cheering. There is plenty of sex, nudity and drugs in this movie just like the original ones. When you see a breast, someone is about to die. Plenty of blood and plenty of running (yes, Jason can run…and fast!). There are plenty of moments when you say “why are you going out there?” and “yea, he is going to die next”.
But the lingering question is, if mom was upset over her son drowning and she knew he lived, why did she kill the first wave of counselors? If she thought he died, why didn’t he tell her he lived?
If you live slasher films, you will love this movie. The cast did a great job as well including Travis Van Winkle whom you may remember from Transformers and Meet the Spartans.

Rumor is he will also be in “Transformers- Revenge of the Fallen” due out later this year in the same role, playing a character by the name of “Trent”. Michael Bay really loves that actor (he had a hand in the Friday the 13th reboot), and really loves that name for the characters he plays!
So if you are in the mood for an updated version of the Jason movies, go and see it.
Oh, yes there is a brother in the movie…and you know what happens to him.
