This week I had the chance to see “Last House on the Left”. I was really looking forward to this movie. I thought this was going to be a realistic take on a revenge situation, and this movie was pretty dead on.
After kidnapping and brutally assaulting two young women, a gang led by a prison escapee (Dillahunt) unknowingly finds refuge at a vacation home belonging the parents of one of the victims — a mother (Potter) and father (Goldwyn) who devise an increasingly gruesome series of revenge tactics.

The summary is a tad misleading. The parents are actually placed in a situation where they are stuck with the killers.
I am getting ahead of myself.
The movie opens with a killer being transported to a prison. The family of the killer devise a daring escape and rescues the killer. The opening scene shows how heartless the killer and his crew can be by killing one of the guards transporting him while showing the victim a picture of the kids he will never see again.
The movie then shows a very determined young woman, trying to beat her best time during swim laps. When the young lady gets out of the water, she asks her caring mother what her time was. Mom, will not tell her because she wants to have her daughter focus on spending much needed family time together. The family later hints to a recent loss.
When these two families meet one tragic day, it becomes a battle between a pack of psychos and a family doing anything to survive.
I liked the symbolism in the movie. At one point the female psycho killer complimented on how the house of the victim was spotless.
This movie is great for people waiting to see a movie where victims take justice into their own hands.
On another note, I have seen a few movies that are not suitable for young children in a theater with young children. Can someone tell me what that is about? I saw “Watchmen” aka “All hail the blue penis” aka ” the biggest case of blue balls ever caught on film” (which was a great movie), and parents actually brought their kids to see the movie! I do not know if these people are not researching the ratings on these movies (or the fact that both of these movies have rape scenes), but this is not the best way to spend quality time with your kids.
Am I wrong?
