I am always looking for the best technology to post anything online. Looks like Utterli just broke through the pack.
I am always on the go, Gcast was a life saver when it came down to posting quick podcasts. Sadly, this morning I received this email.

Dear qrazyinfo:
As you know, we have been offering the ability to podcast by phone for several years. Up until now, this service has remained free for you to use without limitations.
We have been incurring significant costs to keep this service free and we now must take steps to lower our cost.
Beginning April 1, 2009, we will be charging a subscription fee of $99 for this phone-in service. It will still be free to upload content through our website.
Additionally, the subscription usage will be limited to 2 hours in any 90 day period.
If you have any questions about this, or would like to sign up for a subscription, please contact me at matthew@gcast.com.
Thank you,
matthew

When you visit the site to see what additional information about the 2 hour time limit…they threaten to close your account if you go over the 2 hr limit using the phone option.
# By Phone: Call 1-888-65-GCAST (888-654-2278) and use your PIN: international option If outside USA: +1-305-437-8719.
Important! Beginning April 1, 2009, podcasting by phone will require a yearly subscription fee of $99.* To purchase a subscription, contact Matthew Sewell.* If you use more than two hours of phone time in any 90-day period, we reserve the right to cancel your service and refund the unused portion of your fee after deducting a pro-rated amount for the number of days used and an overage of 9 cents/minute for usage over the 90-day limit.
I could go into the numerous ways they could have generated money (adsense, etc), but I won’t. I will instead utilize my “Utterli” account a lot more.

Utterli is your one stop “Twitter”. You can post videos, pictures, audio, and text updates. When you post video, you can set it up to cross post to “Youtube”, and you can cross post to any other service using Utterli. I did not use it much because I did not like the “Utterli” bug embedded in the bottom of the videos you upload. Here is an example at the bottom right corner or this video I posted to “Youtube” using “Utterli”.
You can also link your Utterli to Twitter.
How this will keep my Gcast channel alive-
You can subscribe to your “Utterli” updates and download the MP3 files of your audio updates, and then upload it to your Gcast cahnnel. This adds an extra step, but it allows me to still post audio on the go and produce a more polished product….when I have the time!
Looks like “Utterli” may benefit from being the ignored underdog of other social sites after all!
