Movie Review- Fast and Furious 4

It’s spring time again! This season brings on allergies, a lot of rain, and a slew of movies! Some movies are bad (please do not ask me to mention the last dud I talked about on here) and others are exactly what they are supposed to be. Fast and the Furious 4 falls into the latter category.

Heading back to the streets where it all began, two men rejoin two women to blast muscle, tuner and exotic cars across Los Angeles and floor through the Mexican desert. When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto reignites his feud with agent Brian O’Connor. But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmaneuver him. And from convoy heists to precision tunnel crawls across international lines, two men will find the best way to get revenge: push the limits of what’s possible behind the wheel.

First I will explain the chronological order of the Fast and Furious story.
1- Fast and Furious

2- 2 Fast 2 Furious (with eye candy Tyrese)(who gave a stellar performance)(notice my sarcasm)

2fast2furious

3- Fast and Furious 4

4- Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift (with Bow Wow)

I will do you a big favor and give you the only part of Tokyo Drift you need to see to appreciate the Fast and Furious 4

Now, for the summary.
Dom is still on the run when the movie picks up and the scene in the trailer where they steal gas from a truck is the opening scene. Dom finally realizes how his lifestyle is not conducive to functional relationship and decides his girlfriend should get as far away from him as possible (did I mention this movie takes place 5 years after the events from the first movie?)
They part ways (he actually vanishes in the night), and tragedy hits causing the team to get back together.
Brian is still an agent that breaks all the rules (ummm wouldn’t he be fired in reality land? but I digress…) and needs to bring down the head honcho of a drug smuggling ring before his division is shut down. Part of the problem with bringing down the head honcho is that no one has ever seen his face. There is still bad blood between Dom and Brian, but a few standoffish conversations, witty one liners, and beers later all beef is squashed.
This movie was a non stop action movie. Plenty of fast cars, women with questionable sexual orientation, and obvious mysteries.
If you took a bunch of souped upped cars, swinger parties, a few new Bondesque chase scene, the first Terminator, and the Dukes of Hazzard TV show and mixed them all together and add a pinch of Lethal Weapon you will have this new Fast and Furious.
I applaud the studio for writing a script that is still in the time line, yet does not punish the people smart enough to skip the “2 Fast 2 Furious” and “Tokyo Drift” portions of the franchise.
Yes Michelle Rodriguez does die in the movie… she is quickly becoming the token “extra person that beams down on Star Trek”.
The movie lives up to its name.
