Movie Review- Terminator Salvation

terminator-salvation

The “Terminator” franchise has another installment, this time we have a chance to watch what the masses has asked for. The year is 2023 and the war is in full swing. The machines have taken over the world and humanity is backed into a corner. Desperate times call for desperate measure.

After Skynet has destroyed much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust, a group of survivors led by John Connor struggles to keep the machines from finishing the job.

- From IMDb

The trailers probably show the best part. This script was lacking in several areas….including believability (which says A LOT if you can accept time travel, and cannot accept the script).
From what I understand the original script only had about 20 minutes of screen time for John Connor’s character. The first mistake they made was re-working the script instead of completely rewriting it. The action scenes make the movie bearable, but they are few too many of them to make this movie good.
It was painfully obvious that this movie was supposed to focus on the Marcus Wright character and was supposed to use his experience of being frozen in 2003 to transition us into the events of the war going on in 2023. Sadly, the altering of the script may have caused the movie lose some integrity.
Characters communicated with each other in unbelievable ways (who introduces themselves using their first and last name during battle?), characters place themselves in less than logical situations (gee I am pregnant, I will still take this helicopter ride out to the desert during an attack), and people survive open heart surgery in the desert using a damaged heart (I had an “Untamed Heart” flash back during this movie).
Common had a few lines (an rightfully so, he was completely out of place while performing with seasoned actors)…at least he has an action figure…

The long and the short of it…do NOT go see a movie with Moon Bloodgood in it…yes I blame her. For those that did not get this, please read my review on “Legend of Chun-Li” which also starred Blood Moongod
The most exciting thing about this movie…is Christian Bale’s outburst.

Lets just hope they do better the next installment.
There is a brief appearance of the Arnold terminator, thanks to computer animation. They also have Linda Hamilton’s voice in this film (which seems strange to me because all this stuff she has on tape, she had a chance to tell her son face to face).
