NEW WAVE CAFE Bar and Restaurant
I have frequented this establishment in the past… so when the venue for my girlfriend’s birthday brunch switched from a Starr restaurant to this place, I had no complaints..
That quickly changed…well, I say quickly…but an hour and a half is not quick.
We arrived at the establishment around 2:00 yesterday afternoon. The place was not packed and we ordered our food around 2:10. Although we did indeed have a large group, people arrived at different times, thus requiring different tickets. I was part of the first wave of people to place my order, and apparently the last to receive my food.
The first sign that this waitress needed to find a new job was when she took the order of one of my former schoolmates across the table from me, she acted as if my former schoolmate spoke in code.
Waitress-
What would you like
I would like the pancakes and a side of scrambled egg whites
Waitress-
So you would like the pancakes made with egg whites?

…yea, I should have walked out then. The next thing that happened was I order my french toast and a side of home fries, I then ordered a cup of coffee. She brought the coffee over and there wasn’t enough sugar for me. So I requested sugar and she pointed to the same container I just took the last packet from that now housed equal and other fake sugar substitutes. I pointed out that the container no longer had sugar and she stated she would bring sugar back. She left and returned with drinks for another table and I had to wave her down and request sugar again…and all she did was turn to an empty table and give me another container with the fake sugar and real sugar mixed in it.
An hour after waiting and she has served about 80% of the table at this point.

The folks eating are a mixture of people that came in late and people that ordered in the first wave. She screwed up the egg order (served regular scrambled eggs), and brought out extra turkey bacon. Still, I have not received my food.
She takes the eggs back inside and the bacon and comes back out and asks the people at my end of the table “what did you order again?”, I told her what I was waiting for and she stated “your food is coming out”. When she returned, she only had “home fries”. Now, at this point a number of questions popped up in my head as she announced she had the “home fries” including “how come the home fries resemble wet slugs”, but before I could ask any of them she stated “well its on the ticket” dropped the plate and walked away.
So, I decided to leave.
I hear later that the waitress justified this poor service to losing a cook…yesterday.
I could see if he had a heart attack today…while we were there…but that was not the case. She did not even warn us that there would be and unacceptably long wait for our food. They may have lost a cook yesterday, and they now lost a customer today.
I guess on the bright side they did not have the chance to try and kill me by serving food with metal in it.
I ended up leaving at 3:35 and going and ordering tacos up the street.
