Temple University has dramatically improved its community outreach over the years. I grew up not too far from its campus and attended Temple for Film and then switched over to Broadcasting Telecommunications and Mass Media. Please help the black alumni with their book drive.

Dear Temple University Black Alumni and Friends:

Temple University‘s Department of Campus Safety Services is hosting its annual Children’s Holiday Party. Thanks to the generosity of its community partners in the past, the University has been able to raise enough money to provide toys, food, prizes and entertainment annually for over 300 children from the community.

This year, the Temple University Black Alumni Alliance (TUBAA) is partnering with the Department of Campus Safety Services to make this a memorable holiday season for the children of the surrounding area. As you know, in many of our communities literacy and education are on-going issue and the resources to combat these issues are limited and sometimes inaccessible to those who need the most assistance. To aid in this effort, TUBAA is spearheading a holiday book drive called Project G.I.V.E. Giving Is Virtually Effortless.

We need your support to make Project G.I.V.E. successful. It’s virtually effortless, efficient and secure. Here’s how to make a book drive donation:

· Visit amazon.com.

· Click on “Gifts & Wish Lists” at the top of the page

· In the “Search Wish Lists and Registries” box (top right of page), type “TUBAA” and click “Go.”

· Make your selection(s) from the wish list by clicking “Add to Cart.”

· When completing your order, click “Proceed to Checkout.”

· Sign in, or create a new account with amazon.com.

· Ship to the gift registry address listed: TUBAA Book Drive, C/O Eileen Bradley, Temple University Department of Campus Safety Services, 1101 Montgomery Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19122.

· Proceed to the payment method screen.

· IMPORTANT: Forward a copy of your e-mail confirmation to TUBAA@temple.edu so that we can acknowledge your gift.

Project G.I.V.E. will run from now until December 1, 2009. If you do not see your favorite book on our list, please do not hesitate to purchase the book and send it to us. If you would like to donate your time to wrap the books, help distribute the books at the Children’s Holiday Party and/or provide a monetary donation for us to purchase books on your behalf please send us an email directly at TUBAA@temple.edu If you do not see your favorite children’s book, feel free to purchase it and send it to us anyway!

The Holiday Party will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Liacouras Center and the children will receive your newly purchased donated books at that time.
