The Recording Industry Association of America Just Can’t Catch a Break
A few months back I discussed the pending lawsuit between the RIAA and NAB in demanding payment for playing artists music. The RIAA decided to go after 8000 people for joining sites such as Rabid Neurosis and other file sharing sites. In order to recoup loses due to the ever changing economy, technology, and marketing techniques the RIAA has taken drastic measures to validate their existence.
Unfortunately for the RIAA, they have a problem in Houston. A jury found Matthew Chow not guilty last Friday of conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement.
This victory could start a wave of “not guilty” verdicts across the country…another blow to RIAA.
Until all of this is straightened out, I will make sure not to allow a friend to borrow a CD I own…if I can ever find one that is.
