Two great parties on the Moshulu this past week
I made my way to the Hennessy party on the Moshulu and to the opening night of the Paper-Street Mojito party. If you missed both of these parties, you need to go shoot yourself! The picture above is the only picture from the Hennessy party, but it is NOT the only video clip.

The first video is very dark, but you can see that there was a massive crowd (on a Thursday night at that!)
The second video shows the upper deck where DJ Aktive and John Barber rocked the crowd
Now, on to the Mojito party. If you arrived late…well…let me let Tommy explain
OK, so, where to start….
First of all, I’d like to aplogize to you if you were stuck outside this past Saturday or if you had a frustratingly long wait.
We started Mojito a little earlier this year, with the expectation that it would be cooler out than it normally is when we begin the weekly party and it would be a nice, easy, fun start to the season. We thought it might be pretty busy when the guestlist climbed past a thousand. Then we started to get a little worried when it passed two thousand RSVP’s on Saturday afternoon. But usually, not everyone who RSVP’s shows up, and it all works out. This past weekend, however, it seems like everyone came out and we were caught unprepared.
The way we’ve been running the list for Mojito for years has been essentially the same: you sign-up for reduced admission and get your name checked off on a list, you get a ticket and then you go inside. Or you don’t rsvp and you go inside and pay the regular door price. Pretty simple, and it normally works fine. Last summer we started getting bigger numbers coming out and the guestlist was getting overwhelemed, so we created a pass that you could print out and skip waiting in the guestlist line. That helped and it seemed to work welll enough.
This past weekend, the system let us down. There were so many people out that order broke down. We clicked over 1500 people through the door. That doesn’t include the hundreds of people that waited in line and got frustrated and left or that didn’t even attempt to wait once they saw the amount of people outside. Because we are on a ship that is connected to the dock via a walkway, our options are limted. We only have one entrance we are alowed to use. So…we are making a big change.
To increase the efficiency and speed of entering the boat, WE ARE ELIMINATING THE GUESTLIST LINE. No more waiting in line for a ticket and then another line to get in. There will be no more guestlist outside. We are going to do this all with The Pass.
After you RSVP for cheaper entry, you will be redirected to The Pass. This will be the only thing you need to get in with the open bar for $5 before 11pm and for $10 before 12am. There will be one line, and one line only. If you have the pass, you get the cheaper price. Ifnot, you pay regular price. But either way you are all in the same line. We will be increasing the staff and downstairs and there will now be a host who will help get things moving faster. The system isn’t perfect, but we need to do something, and I truly believe this will help tremendously. It will be more of a fair system and we can all work together make it better. You can reach me personally by replying to this e-mail if you have any feedback, and I hope you can cut me a little slack in trying to get this thing worked out.
Now, all that being said, if you were there I hope you had a fantastic time. I was overwhelmed at how amazing the crowd looked was and how well everyone got along. Think about this: 1500 people on board and everyone inside was smiling. We had the Eagles players there. We had adult film star Tara Patrick there. We had superstar DJ Josh Wink and his lady. We had Philebrity’s Joey Sweeny & Ruth and their crew. It was kind of awesome. I really do care about making this fun and a no-brainer for you guys, and it hurts me when you’re unhappy, so let’s work together to make Summer 2009 the greatest Summer ever.
Your humble party thrower,
**Now…this Saturday we have a special treat for you. It’s our Cinco de Mayo Party at Mojito.
