Barnes and Noble book display boycott

Obama book display

So, there is a boycott against Barnes and Noble over this picture. This is a true picture and not a fake one. Snopes.com confirmed it. My question is, are we over reacting?

If this image is indeed the result of a bad joke by a customer, should Barnes and noble pay the price? Granted, I do question the validity of that argument (I worked in retail for years and we all know our front display is the second most important part of our store….next to the cash register). If the manager on duty is negligent when it comes down to the representation of the store, does this person still have a job?
We also have to go back to what sparked this argument. How many Americans feel that racial “jokes” are just that, jokes? I mean I am sure Walt Disney and Warner brothers believed their humor was acceptable.

The funny thing about humor is that people have to find it funny to be classified as humor. Since it is objective, it is easily defended.
What are your thoughts on this boycott?

Sorry for the late post but at first site I would punish the employee who did this not Barnes in Nobles. Thinking about it more brings more questions like, how long was this like this? Has management seen this? Are they republicans? Are they stupid? and lastly, is it worth it in this hairpin trigger economy…

The funny thing is, I have yet to see a statement “from” any of the store
staff or heard of any pink slips.
Even if the person taking the photo rearranged the books, it still leaves to
question the training process for the employees and management…and that
still falls back on the Barnes and Noble corporate big wigs.

First of all it was addressed with the store GM and he made no apologies and said that we were all just putting too much into it. This was said on the tom Joyner Morning show last month when he interviewed him. This is not a joke and it is quite offensive and I will never support BN ever again. Should the employee be punished, Yes! So should BN because they made no apology and explained that the AA community for what happed in their store. All of there stores have surveillance cameras and many workers. So why were they not aware of the disrespectful act.

    Hello Aliyah!
Is there any way you could post the audio clip of what the owner said on
here? That would greatly help shed light on that part of your post. I would
think the store GM would have had some PR prep before the interview. That is
    just horrible!
